There is a Catholic church right next to Kristina's school that has a big pumpkin patch every year. Pumpkin patch down here in Southwest Florida simply means, they ordered hundreds of different size pumpkins, lay the on the floor in rows and we get to walk around and pick out what we want. They also had cute photo opportunities to stop and get pictures taken in front of, ones where you can put your head through and get a picture, and they have it decorated very fall looking (which, again, in SW Florida there's not really a "Fall" of leaves or changing of colors).
We drove by this patch DAILY for a couple weeks until we finally got a chance to go as a family and pick out pumpkins. The girls were SOOOO excited, they'd been SOOOO looking forward to it and had a lot of fun. Our dearest Kristina, however decided she didn't want her picture taken that night. We got one good one of all three and that was good enough for me! Vanessa on the other hand posed for her picture and Bryce just enjoyed touching and being on/in/around all the pumpkins!
Here they are:
This is one of my MOST favorite of Vanessa.
I put this one in here because I just loved his facial expression when he saw this pumpkin.
We got a big one to carve and they each got to pick out one little one. Here they are back in the SUV with their pumpkins.
The following are of Ben and the girls carving their pumpkins.
This year we did something a little different. We chose only ONE big pumpkin, we each took a side and drew a face on it. Mommy, Daddy, Kristina and Vanessa (4 sides).
The girls gutted it, Ben carved it and let the girls pop out the pieces to their face and in the end we had a 4 faced pumpkin. It saved us $ and made for creative memories. The girls really liked it having 4 faces.
Kristina helping pull her pieces out as daddy cuts out her face.
Vanessa helping with her face.
Both helping pull out the pieces of mommy and daddy's faces.
Kristina's face (those are eye lashes under the eye in case you were wondering :).
Vanessa's face. Ben did such a great job cutting them out like they drew them.
Ben's face. GRRRRR!
My face. Simple.
Our camera has a panoramic view so Ben took a pix of the girls pumpkins and his is in the middle.
This is what a night of carving faces will do to you!
Thanks for the fun times and memories Daddy!
