For breakfast I make myself a berry/banana protein shake. Often times the girls ask for some so I make them a batch too. This day we also decided to make pop cycles with it. Enjoy the silly pictures!
1 medium banana (not pictured)
1c. of plain yogurt or skim milk (the yogurt makes it taste sweeter)
1c. frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries)
1 handful of spinach (you don't even taste it and it's a great way to get a veggie serving in each day)
1tbsp of peanut butter (I only put this in the girls shake. I keep it out of mine and put it on my cinn. raison Ezekial bread pictured below)
1 schoop of protein powder (we use Jay Robb because it isn't filled with lots of additives)
Put it all in a blender and blend until liquid
NOTE: you may have to thaw your berries out if they're frozen depending on your blender.
Another note: This is a balanced meal. When combined with a slice or two of ezekiel bread you get your carb, your protein, your fat, 1 serving of veggie and 2 servings of fruit. It is filling and SCRUMPTIOUS!
This is organic Ezekiel bread. It's the closest for of bread that they made in Biblical times. The process is taken from this verse in Ezekiel 4:9. You must keep it refrigerated because the ingredients are alive and will rott of left out. Cinnamon Raisin is my FAVORITE kind. There are other types and you will most likely find it in the freezer section with other breads OR in the organic frozen section at Publix (here in Fl.) or your local health food store.
These are the shake pop we made
They make for a healthy after nap time snack
I usually take their shirts off when they drink it because depending on the berry you use, it can stain the clothes. Blueberry is my most favorite berry to use and ultimately the worst to get out of clothes (and carpet). Plus, as you can see, the girls like to have fun while drinking it and almost always drip some on their clothes and it's just easier to wipe them down instead of doing laundry :)!
